This statement necklace draws from the rich gemstone jewelry of the Hellenistic and Roman worlds, where vivid stones, pearls, and delicate suspended elements adorned ceremonial and elite dress.
At its center rests a butterfly motif, recalling Psyche's enduring association with the human soul in ancient art. Inspired by an ancient museum-held jewel, this necklace was created through the careful study of archaeological adornments and historical craftsmanship. Its composition echoes the rich polychromy and suspended elements found in luxury jewelry of the Hellenistic and Roman worlds.
Natural gemstones were carefully selected for their resemblance to those favored in antiquity, and each element was hand-assembled in gold-plated brass. The result is a contemporary reconstruction that seeks to capture the character and craftsmanship of the original object while bringing an ancient design into the present.
